About us

BoulderForest grew from a love of climbing.

BoulderForest grew from our love of climbing, the forests and the sandstone of Luxembourg's Müllerthal. More than anything, we wanted to bring the spirit we love about climbing outdoors inside – the connection to nature, the challenge, and a community that welcomes and supports each other. That spirit is at the heart of BoulderForest.

Community first

Bouldering is a social sport. We design our spaces with open lounge areas and friendly workspaces and plenty of room to connect – because the conversations between climbs are just as important as the climbing.

Nature-inspired

We bring the outdoors in. Natural wood, earthy tones, greenery and our signature tree create a warm, organic space that feels different from the moment you walk in.

Everyone belongs

From first-time climbers to seasoned regulars, everyone has a place here. Come as you are, climb at your level, and enjoy the journey.

Our story.

For us, climbing started close to home — on the sandstone of Berdorf and in a small bouldering gym in the basement of a high school in Limpertsberg. The basement was small, dark and damp. But the community was anything but. It was a place where friendships formed between climbs, and some of those friendships have lasted a lifetime.

Over the years, we travelled, climbed outdoors and visited gyms around the world. We saw what worked, what could be better, and slowly shaped an idea of the kind of place we would love to have back home. A place with great climbing at its core, but also somewhere to spend time, meet people and feel part of a community.

And as that community grew, so did our idea. We wanted kids and families to have a space designed for them from the start — not as an afterthought or a small add-on, but as a real part of BoulderForest.

At some point, the idea became contagious. What started as a dream spread through old climbing friends, new friends and people we met along the way. The passion was too strong, the challenge too exciting, and eventually there was only one thing left to do: build it.

Our vision.

We wanted BoulderForest to feel different from the moment you walk in. A place where great climbing meets nature, thoughtful design and a strong sense of community. Natural wood, greenery and our tree at the heart of the gym bring some of the outdoors inside — creating a warm, welcoming space you want to spend time in.

But BoulderForest was never meant to be just about climbing. We wanted a place where serious climbers, beginners, kids and families all have spaces designed for them. Where you can train hard, bring your children, meet friends, work over a coffee or stay for dinner at ForestCafé.

Ultimately, our vision is simple: to create a place people come to climb — and stay because they love being here.

Meet Varsha, our Head Chef! With years of experience creating homemade food through Desilicious, she brings her passion for cooking — and for bringing people together around good food — to BoulderForest. She loves experimenting with flavors, meeting people and, most of all, seeing happy faces. Come by and discover what's cooking in the BoulderForest kitchen!

Trainer

Anjin

Anjin is from Luxembourg, even though his name comes from Japan. He started climbing at seven and has been putting his energy into the local climbing community ever since. After trying a bit of everything — postman, artist's assistant, climbing trainer, vendor at CCS — he has found his place as a trainer at BoulderForest. With years of training and both indoor and outdoor experience, he can guide you through every aspect of your bouldering performance — from your first moves on the wall to technique and training.

Maria

You'll find Maria at the counter and teaching classes at BoulderForest. Bouldering since 2019, she loves the versatility and beauty of movement in this sport — technical, balancy slabs most of all. She is currently deepening her fascination with the human body through her studies in sports and movement therapy, and works as a freelance trainer in mindful and nonviolent communication. Questions about injury rehab, training plans or mindfulness? She's exactly the right person to ask — in German, English or French.

Sami

This is Sami from Germany. He worked in gastronomy for almost four years and in a bouldering gym for three — now he has found his new home at BoulderForest. He tried plenty of sports over the years, but when he discovered bouldering in 2021 he was immediately hooked, and it quickly became his main sport. What fascinates him most: the playful training, the constant challenge of figuring out new routes and beta — and above all, the amazing community.

Head Routesetter

Maik

Meet Maik, our Head Routesetter! With a deep passion for movement and years of experience designing inspiring boulder problems, he is the creative mind behind our walls. He is committed to setting diverse, enjoyable and challenging routes for all abilities and styles — you'll often find him testing new sequences on the wall, keeping things fresh week after week. He is always happy to talk beta with the community, and thrilled to bring his energy to BoulderForest and make every session unforgettable!

Gym Manager

André

Meet André, our Gym Manager and the friendly face making sure everything at BoulderForest runs smoothly. Many will know him from the local scene: ten years of bouldering, and almost as many working in gyms just like this one. Whether he's serving drinks at the counter, checking on the gym floor or chatting with climbers, his goal is simple — a welcoming experience for everyone. He's always open for conversation and feedback. Drop by, say hi, and let him know what you think!
